A group was formed named SCIBUS, or Scientific Corporations Interested in Bringing Up Scientists. Charter members included:

SCIBUS members believe that science teachers are an essential part of the overall effort to make science fun for children. They recognize that the future growth and success of their companies depend, in part, in how successful science teachers are in sparking an interest in science.

SCIBUS devoted initial efforts to producing a book of easy and interesting science experiments for grades K-12. These experiments demonstrate important scientific principles with inexpensive materials that are readily available from discount, grocery, and hardware stores.

SCIBUS holds several workshops annually where these experiments (and others) are demonstrated to science teachers.
